While millions of people are fleeing war, terror and persecution, 34 artists and a film crew have embarked on a mission to inspire understanding, compassion and support. This effort, called The Columbus Crossing Borders Project, includes a 50 minute documentary and the works of 34 artists responding to stories shared by refugees in our community.

For the first time, the 4 education organizations in Westerville (Westerville Education Foundation, Westerville Education Challenge, Westerville Partners for Education and Westerville Parent Council) are working together on one important event. We are bringing the Columbus Crossing Borders Project to Westerville on September 30 - October 3 in an effort we are calling "Westerville Crossing Borders".

Funding will be available to district staff who would like their students to experience the Columbus Crossing Borders Project art exhibit and documentary.

This project will be part of Westerville's Annual Community Culture Day on Sunday, September 30th which is spearheaded by Police Chief Joe Morbitzer and is supported by more than 20 community organizations.

Westerville is the 3rd most diverse school district in Central Ohio and the 11th most diverse in the state. In addition, nearly 1 in 10 of our students is enrolled in English Learning classes.

The Columbus Crossing Borders Project inspires understanding, compassion and valuable discussion that will benefit our community and our students. Donations will be used to bring the Columbus Crossing Borders Project to Westerville and allow students to experience the benefits of this project first hand through field trips, creative projects and other teacher led initiatives.
