About

Our Mission

The mission of the Westerville Education Foundation is to enrich the learning experience and broaden the minds of our students by funding and supporting innovative programs that strengthen and advance public education.

Our Values

Empowered Educators

Community Connection

WEF takes pride in empowering educators to bring their ideas to life by submitting grant proposals for projects they are passionate about. We trust our talented educators and staff to understand how to best meet students’ needs and to create meaningful, impactful learning experiences.

We believe education is a shared responsibility and that strong schools build strong communities. WEF seeks to spotlight and celebrate the Westerville community’s support for public education. Further, we seek to engage with the community to share and uplift the positive work of WEF and our public schools.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

WEF supports projects that uplift diverse voices, celebrate our differences, and promote inclusion and equity. We are committed to supporting programs that close opportunity gaps, ensure equitable access to resources, and uplift all learners regardless of background or ability.

Student Well-Being

WEF believes that students thrive academically when their physical, mental, and emotional needs are supported. We are committed to supporting and advocating for initiatives that promote students’ overall well-being, including their mental and physical health, and a healthy school-life balance.

Our Work

Grants

The WEF supports innovative grants reaching a wide array of subject areas, including literacy, science, physical education, and the arts at all levels - preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. We release grant applications in two cycles throughout the year, one in the fall and one in the spring, and receive between 50 and 75 applications from educators and students each year.

Teacher of the Month

We are pleased to provide our community with an opportunity to recognize outstanding teachers in the Westerville City School District through our Teacher of the Month program. We choose three recipients each academic month and surprise them with a pack of bundt cakes, a certificate celebrating them as our Teacher of the Month, and $100 for their classroom account.

In addition to these rewards, the winners are featured on our social media platforms and highlighted in a press release, ensuring they receive the recognition they truly deserve.
