Congratulations October Teachers of the Month!

Congratulations to our October Teachers of the Month: Natalie Martin, Lisa Huelskamp and Olivia Bechtel! Thank you to everyone who nominated teachers in September. We had an impressive pool of nominations and it was so satisfying to read from students, parents, and teachers about the difference teachers are making in students’ lives this year. Take a look at some of the wonderful things their nominators shared about these outstanding educators in Westerville City Schools and be sure to nominate the amazing teachers in your school!

Special thank you to Education First Credit Union, who sponsors our special Teacher of the Month program each month. Winners get $100 to use in their classroom fund, they are featured on our website with past winners, and they get the fame and glory this month.

Congratulations to these teachers and thank you to ALL our Westerville City School teachers for all that you do to support our students!

Mark Twain Elementary - Natalie Martin

“Mrs Martin is an absolutely PHENOMENAL teacher! She is so calm and collected and somehow makes every student always feel like they are being heard

and understood which is a lot to accomplish in a classroom of 28 kids where mine is not the only child who requires extra attention. I feel so lucky that my son has a teacher who teaches the way a student learns instead of teaching one way and expecting all of her students to learn.” -Jillian Lang

Blendon Middle School - Lisa Huelskammp

“She is always helping WHOEVER needs it even non gifted kids. (She's the gifted teacher). When we get to go to her class that she calls camp Huelskamp, she always has fun but educational lessons. She helped me learn how to control my anxiety and help me in general to be a better person.” - Student

“Dr. H is so awesome! I can come to her about absolutely anything. Whether it's at home stuff, at school stuff, or I just want to vent, I know I can stop by her office or shoot her an email, and she's ready to talk. She always has a positive attitude, which I don't know how she does it, having to deal with us all the time! Dr. Huelskamp 100% deserves this.” - Student

McVay Elementary - Olivia Bechtel

“Mrs. Bechtel has already far surpassed our expectations for communication and responsiveness, and we're only a week into school. I know that she is balancing a hundred new tasks and ways to get things done, and in spite of it all she has risen to the occasion and is making sure that every parent knows exactly what's happening when, how to access it, and reading and responding to long emails with lots of questions. Her energy and passion have impressed my wife and I tremendously, and we are so excited to be a part of the Westerville school district knowing there are teachers like her here.” - Parent
